Join us on May 27th between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for the official launch of the Montreal Holocaust Museum’s research project about antisemitism and Holocaust education. This project, funded by the Government of Canada, will help create a new generation of Quebec researchers on the topics of antisemitism and the Holocaust.

The main objective of the project is to respond to contemporary issues, notably the changing nature of antisemitism in Quebec and the rise of hate speech. Additionally, it seeks to foster a dialogue between academic research and the work of the Montreal Holocaust Museum.

During the seminar, academic experts from Quebec will discuss the history of Jews in Quebec, antisemitism, and current trends in Holocaust education.

Special guest Eva Illouz, Professor of Sociology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Director of Research at the prestigious École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris, will talk about her latest book: Le 8 octobre, généalogie d’une haine vertueuse (published by Tracts Gallimard – 2024), an opportunity to reflect on the revelation that antisemitism is rampant in progressive circles, including on campuses.

Tickets are $10, and reservations are required through Jlive.

(Seminar in French with simultaneous translation available through personal devices)
